by Coy Holcombe.

The Eustace ISD Board of Trustees recognized several student groups at their December board meeting. Proclamations were presented to the boys and girls cross country teams, the varsity volleyball team, and the varsity football teams. The head coaches of each sport were present and talked briefly about their team’s accomplishments: Josh Sypert talked about cross country, Chuck Powers reviewed the volleyball season, and Doug Wendel recapped the football season. In addition, several student athletes representing each sport recognized were in attendance.

Another special recognition went to board member James Cox. After five years of dedicated service to the students, staff, and community, James resigned his position of EISD trustee. EISD sends a special thank you to James for his leadership and tireless devotion to the students, staff, and community. We wish James all the best in his future.

Back from the Holidays

by Coy Holcombe.

Today is our first day back from the Christmas holidays. I hope that everyone enjoyed their break and enjoyed the holidays.

In the past few years, the end of the first semester has occurred prior to dismissing for the holidays. This year, the end of the first semester will not happen until January 16. EISD will have two days of early release on January 15 and 16. The early releases coincide with semester exams. There will be a work day on January 19. Students will not attend school on this date.

The next break will be the week of March 16-20. This is our annual spring break. There is also a holiday in on April 10.  This corresponds with Easter. The final holiday of the school year will be May 25, Memorial Day.

The second semester will end on June 3. Early release days are scheduled for June 2 and June 3. In case we have to miss any days due to weather or other unforeseen situations, June 4 and June 5 are scheduled as bad weather make up days.
