Wear Blue Day

by Coy Holcombe.

The Bulldog baseball team lost a hard fought game to Mineola last night 6 – 5. The softball team lost to Mineola as well. After the softball game, the seniors were recognized for their dedication and hard work. Please note, that the softball game on Friday has been moved to a 12:00 noon start time.

Today, all campuses are participating in Wear Blue Day in observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month. In addition, the 5th graders are participating in a poster contest.

A reminder that we will be hosting a high school track meet tomorrow. It will involve several area teams. If you enjoy watching great athletes compete in track and field, then I encourage you to come out tomorrow. Admission is free.

The one act play will also be presenting their contest play on Thursday in the High School auditorium. The play will start at 6:00.

Finally, a reminder that Friday is a school holiday.

New Competition Gym:

  • The goals, speakers, and lights are installed.
  • The main AC units have been tested.
  • The dirt ramp that allows the bigger lifts to move in and out of the building will be coming out this week.
  • As soon as the dirt ramp is removed, work will begin on enclosing the last open section in the front.
  • The wood for the floor will be delivered this week.
  • The outside store front doors have been installed on one side.
  • Trim work is almost complete on the outside.
  • Chairs for the bleachers should arrive around the 15th.
  • The concrete portion of the bleachers has been stained or painted.
  • Window frames in the foyer have been installed.
  • Work has started on the storm drains.

The gym area is really beginning to look like a gym now. Over the next few weeks, this transformation will continue.

Transportation Facility: We are still working with the steel building contractor and our architects to correct some issues. Plans should be finalized soon and work will start on the plumbing.

Artistry at Work

by Stan Sowers.

Amythyst Ortiz entered her pencil drawing of a buck in the Henderson County Livestock Show’s Youth Project Show.  She was rewarded three ribbons. The "Blue Award" was for participation, but she also received the "Best of Section" ribbon for the Graphic section of the Art division and a "Best in Show" ribbon for the Art division as well.

Track Meets, Book Fair, and Lights

by Coy Holcombe.

Tonight, our high school track teams will be in action at Kemp. Tomorrow, Eustace will host the district middle school track meet. I know that our middle school students have been working hard in preparation for tomorrow’s meet. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the track meet.

I want to remind everyone about the book fair at the Primary. The book fair will be open through 3:30 tomorrow.

Special thanks goes out to our maintenance department for making a quick repair on the baseball field lights. We lost some of the lights during the JV game on Monday. While they were able to finish the game, the lighting had to be repaired prior to the high school game on Tuesday. Our crews worked during the day to diagnose the problem and complete repairs. Great job guys!!

Congratulations to the FFA

by Coy Holcombe.

The Eustace FFA recently competed at the Houston Livestock Show and the Henderson County Livestock Show. Our FFA members brought home numerous awards for various projects. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work on their projects and congratulations to the FFA sponsors, Theresa Tindel and Zach Tappan, for their hard work and dedication.

March is gone and April is here. We only have 63 calendar days left until this school year is over. With so many activities packed into these days, time will go by fast.

The baseball team lost a hard fought game against Wills Point last night. Our softball team continued to improve but fell to Wills Point also.

We received numerous compliments from the coaches and fans from Longview and Waxahachie concerning our facilities and our hospitality in hosting the regional quarter final soccer playoff game last night. I believe this is a reflection on our community for their commitment to provide the best facilities possible for our children, a reflection on our school board for providing the leadership to achieve these goals, a reflection on our maintenance staff for keeping our facilities in top notch condition, and a reflection on our staff for being willing to work to ensure that the visitors received the best possible experience while at Eustace. Thanks to everyone involved.
