The district football meeting in Maypearl yesterday went very well. We are fortunate to be in a district in which everyone gets along with everyone else. A couple of notes from the meeting:
- The superintendent at Maypearl was elected district chairman.
- The district schedule for 2010 was approved (see previous blog for the complete 2010 football schedule).
- The district rules for football were approved.
- A resolution was adopted by the District Executive Committee to ask the UIL to consider taking three teams to the playoffs instead of the current arrangement of two. This resolution would place 2A schools on par with other divisions on the number of playoff teams. This situation should be discussed this summer by the UIL. In addition, the resolution will ask that the UIL consider going back to the old format in 2A with 32 districts based more on geographic location than size of the district.
The EHS baseball tournament will continue today. The softball team will be involved in the Kerens tournament today. Soccer will be at Whitehouse tonight.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
