Middle School Band and High School Band

by Coy Holcombe.

From Jim Taylor, assistant band director:

The Seventh and Eighth Band received a rating of one (superior) at the Sandy Lake Band Contest held on March 26 in Carrollton. Each judge gave the band a one and the judges gave many positive remarks about the band on the judge’s comment sheets. The students had a great time at the park enjoying the paddle boats, arcade, miniature golf, rides and food. Mr. Felty and Mr. Taylor are very proud of the band’s success.

From Todd Felty, head band director:

The High School Band participated in the UIL Concert and Sight reading competition on March 10th in Canton and Received a 2nd Division Concert Rating and a 1st Division Sight reading rating. On March 11th the band traveled to Disney World to participate in the Magic Music Days events. Besides getting to see all the attractions, the band played for the crowds at Downtown Disney and participated in a special backstage workshop where we recorded a DVD to a video clip of “Aladdin”, much like what professional musicians would do. The band played very well for all audiences during the trip.

Congratulations to the HS and MS bands on their accomplishments. I will have an update tomorrow on how the MS band did at the UIL contest.
