The Eustace Cross Country teams competed in Ennis Saturday on a cloudy but nice day.
The Varsity Girls placed 5th out of 7 teams and 60 individuals. The girls were led by freshman Meagan Gunter and Senior Nancy Murff who ran 13:58 and 13:59 and placed 16th and 17th. Crystal Garza, Tarrah Herrera, and Kara Zimmerer followed with 14:44, 14:45, and 14:48 and placed 28th, 29th, and 30th.
The Varsity Boys placed 1st out of 9 teams and 60 individuals. The boys were lead by sophomore Evan Arambula who ran a 17:19 and placed 3rd Overall. Caleb Caldwell followed with a 18:13 and placed 6th, Michael Yates ran a 18:29 and placed 7th, Gavin Kirkhart ran a 18:47 and placed 9th, and Shawn Boulware ran a 20:12 and placed 25th.
The JV girls ran Shelby Milton, Skyler Burks, and Shelby Stegent who placed 31st, 61st, and 90th out of 130 individuals.
The JV Boys race had 160 individuals and did not report any team results. They were lead by Trey Russell who placed 21st and ran a 19:59, Ryan Brown placed 23rd and ran a 20:09, Dakota Parrent placed 59th and ran a 21:40, Tim Gassman placed 89th and ran a 22:57, Stephen Ashton placed 92nd and ran a 22:59, and Brad Sawicki placed 114th and ran a 24:48.
The HS volleyball teams are in action against Teague tonight. The games are scheduled to start at 5:00. The games will be played in the E. L. Kirk Gym.
On Friday, the volleyball teams will be hosting Leon. There will be no entry fees to this game for anyone. Instead, donation boxes will be set up for Breast Cancer Awareness. People attending this game are encouraged, but not required, to donate their entry fees to help fight breast cancer.
