The Eustace FFA Chapter tookthird place Sweepstakes Overall in their Sandyland FFA District Leadership and Development Events held on November 11, 2011. There are 16 school districts in Sandyland District and their efforts were outstanding with such a
large field of competitors. Twenty students represented Eustace High School extremely well with two categories qualifying for Area VIII competition. The Junior Farms Skills composed of Chad Tindel, Bradley Holmes and Alejandro Macias advanced to Area with their skills demonstration of proper steps to installing a gate. Madie Allen advanced to Area as the second place Junior FFA Creed Speaker. Shelby Stegent placed third in Job Interview. The Radio Broadcast team of Hanna Kelley, Tim Gassman, and Summer Hinkle placed third as well. The Senior Farm Skills took
fifth place and consisted of Brady Tindel, Seth Purselley, Dillon Gragsone and Austin White. The Public Relations Team made up of Coby Bostic, Breanna Fuller and Caitlyn Culp finished sixth. The Junior Quiz team finished seventh with Grace Holcombe, Karen Cawthon, Bradley Holmes and Clay McKinney. Rounding out the teams for Eustace were the senior Quiz Team consisting of Shelby Stegent, Dillon Gragsone, Ashley Lasiter and Seth Purselley who placed ninth in their division. Area VIII LDE competition is scheduled for November 19, 2011 at Waco Robinson High School.
I received the individual results from the state cross country meet from Coach Sypert. Overall, the boys finished 4th in state and just two points behind the third place team. The 4th place finish is the best in history of boys cross country. The team was lead by Junior Evan Arambula who earned Cross Country All-State Honors by finishing 9th overall. He ran a 16:56 and received a medal for placing in the top ten. Next
was Freshman Mark Zimmerer, who was the second place freshman in the division,
and placed 21st overall clocking a 17:33. Jason Ballenger and Gavin Kirkhart came in at 18:23 and 18:27 producing 54th and 55th overall, Michael Yates came in at 57th and ran an 18:29, Preston Schwartz, also among the top freshman as well, placed 72nd and ran a 19:05, and Trey Russell came in 87th and ran a 19:44.
The Eustace ISD Board of Trustees will hold their regular monthly meeting tonight. The meeting will start at 7:00 PM and be held in the HS library. Action items on the agenda include:
- Receive and approve minutes of previous meetings.
- Consider financial reports.
- Consider changing date of December board meeting to December 15, 2011.
- Consider bid on six properties in the Meadowcrest Subdivision.
- Consider resolution from attorney regarding SB 100.
- Consider Policy Update 91.
