School Board Recognition Month

January in Texas is School Board Recognition Month. Each January, the men and women that serve on school boards are honored for their service to their local schools and communities. The men and women that serve on school boards do so because of their commitment to ensuring that our children receive the best possible education. There is no compensation provided to school board members. These men and women volunteer their time in serving on the board.

School board members participate in at least one school board meeting a month. In some cases, there will be multiple meetings in a month. School board members attend seminars and training sessions on a yearly basis. School board members are responsible for setting the overall policy that drives all aspects of the school district. They must understand and make decisions regarding school finance, school law, curriculum, the state accountability system, federal guidelines, food service, maintenance, transportation, and a host of other topics. All of this is done through serving the interest of their local constituents and for what is best for our children.

Below are the community members that serve on the Eustace ISD Board of Trustees. During this special recognition month, please take a moment to thank them for their service to our community and to our children:

Diane Russ – Board President

Thomas Frazier – Board Vice President

Gary Walsh – Board Secretary

Mike Smith – Board Member

Cotton Walker – Board Member

Sonny Hodge – Board Member

Bobby Ashton – Board Member

A reminder that our HS basketball teams will be in action tonight against Mildred. The games will start at 5:00 and be played in the E. L. Kirk Gym and the old HS gym.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!
