NHS Banquet and Baseball

The annual National Honor Society Banquet was held last night at the First Baptist Church. During the banquet, new members were inducted, the junior members received their NHS patches and the seniors received their NHS collars. A number of special awards were also presented by NHS sponsor, Diane Chambers.

The 2011-2012 officers started ceremony by describing the characteristics expected of NHS members. This year’s officers were:

In order to be considered for NHS, a student must be committed to leadership, character and service. In addition, all members must maintain an 85 or higher cumulative average and be classified as a sophomore, junior or senior.

Thanks to Diane Chambers for organizing last night’s banquet. I would like to extend a special thank you to all the parents, relatives, school board members, faculty members and friends that were in attendance to honor these students.

 

The Bulldog baseball team will be in action this evening against Mildred. The game tonight will be the second game in the best of three series for the bi-district championship. The Bulldogs lost the first game last night 6-3. Tonight’s game will be played in Eustace and will start at 7:30.
