A few months ago, I posted an entry about EISD turning over tax collections to Henderson County. As such, I neglected to point out that the tax bills sent out by the county will certainly be different. Residents of EISD will no longer receive a separate tax bill from the district. Instead, the district’s taxes will be included on the tax statement from the county. The tax statement you receive from the county will be more than in the past because the district’s tax bill is now collected by the county; however, the amount of school taxes owed should only vary by a small amount. In fact, since EISD lowered the overall tax rate by $0.0063, some residents may even pay slightly less this year in school taxes (assuming that your property values did not increase significantly). The key point to remember is that the tax bill received from the county is the entire tax bill. You will not receive another bill from the district.
