Bad Weather Information

As we get our first real taste of cold weather, it is an appropriate time to talk about how to find out information if winter weather becomes an issue. If there is a question about the safety of our roads, EISD will either delay the start of school or cancel classes entirely. Every effort will be made to make this decision in a timely manner. Usually, at the latest, we will have a decision made by 6:00 AM. Information will then be posted on our website, sent to local media, and texted to everyone that has signed up for text messages through Celly. Information will be sent to radio station KCKL (95.9 FM) and  Channel 5 and Channel 8 TV stations. If you would like to sign up for text message alerts, please visit our homepage at www.eustaceisd.net. On the right side of the page, right below our Twitter feed, is information about signing up for our Celly account. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me at cholcombe@eustaceisd.net.

Drive 4 UR School

On October 5, EISD hosted a Drive 4 UR School fund raiser. This fund raiser was made possible by Tri-County Ford in Mabank. EISD received an amount for each test drive that was taken that day. This week, Tri-County Ford presented EISD with a check in the amount of $5,780!

I want to thank everyone that took the time to come up and test drive one of the new Ford vehicles. I also want to say a very special thank you to Tri-County Ford for allowing us this opportunity.

We will utilize these funds in our scholarship foundation and to possibly add additional technology to the district.  Again, thanks to everyone for your help!!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

This Week

Last Friday, I reported that Governor Perry had asked Education Commissioner Michael Williams to defer implementation of the rule that provided that end of course tests count 15% of a student’s final grade in a class. Commissioner Williams has indeed provided instructions to districts that the 15% rule has been deferred until the 2013-2014 school year.

There is a called board meeting scheduled for tonight. The meeting will be held at 6:00 PM in the HS library. The main purpose of the meeting will be to take care of some time-sensitive items that cannot wait until the regular board meeting on December 18.

Agenda items include:

  • Annual Highly Qualified Report
  • Consider votes for Henderson County Appraisal District Board of Directors – Place 3
  • Superintendent Reports – Financial Reports for October, PaySchools Report, Update on State and Federal Grants, Tax Property Resale Report, and Summer Feeding Program Report
  • Consider Update 95 – Second Reading

All interested parties are encouraged to attend tonight’s called board meeting.
