Last night was the last basketball game for the girls this year. Since it was a home game as well, it was also Senior Night for the girls. Seniors Carley Gallops and Shelby Marcum were honored for their participation in girls basketball over the last four years. A video of the ceremony has been uploaded to the Eustace ISD’s YouTube page. I want to thank Carley and Shelby for all their hard work and dedication in all of their school endeavors. Below is a picture of Carley and Shelby.
First, a reminder that the High School basketball teams will host Scurry tonight. This will be the girls last game of the season and will be their Senior Night.
The UIL released the new alignments for the next two years. The Bulldogs will play in District 11 in Region 3 in football. The district includes Eustace, Elkhart, Kemp, Malakoff, Palestine Westwood, and Teague. This district has the Bulldogs traveling in more of a south direction. Our current district involved traveling more east (Quitman, Lone Oak, Winnsboro).
The Bulldogs will play in District 18 in Region 3 in basketball. The district includes Eustace, Arp, Frankston, Malakoff, Mildred, West Rusk, Rice and Troup. In all likelihood, our volleyball, cross country, softball, track, and baseball districts will be these same teams. Our current district has us traveling to the north. Our new district has Eustace at the center and travel going to the south, west, and east.
We anticipate the official release of volleyball, cross country, softball, baseball, and track to be later in the spring. Over the next few weeks, we will have meetings to formalize rules and schedules for the new districts. If you would like to see all of the new alignments, visit the UIL’s homepage at http://www.uiltexas.org/.
I hope everyone had a great weekend. This week will have the last girls basketball game of the season and the first baseball games. We will also have Senior Night activities for the boys and girls basketball teams this week.
Today, at 9:00 AM, we will learn the new realignment for the next two years. Look for information on our Twitter feed and on the Update that will come out this week. I will also post information on my blog.
Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams on a great year! Both teams competed in the post-district tournament this past weekend. The 8th grade girls won their first game of the tournament and lost their second game to the eventual tournament champs. The 7th grade played Scurry in the championship game on Saturday. It was a hard fought game throughout with our young ladies coming up just short.
