All-District Football

I have received information from Coach Ragle on all-district football selections. On offense, Eustace placed Zach Hughes (OL) and Thomas Hyde (OL) on first team, and Keenan Hargest (RB), Mikey Marshall (OL), and D. J. Widsom (OL) on second team. On the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs had Thomas Hyde (DL) and Zach Hughes (LB) on the first team and C. J. Daniels (DB) on the second team. Honorable Mention went to Hayden Plunk (DL) and Dylan Hunsaker (DL). Congratulations to all of these players on earning these honors in a very tough district!

Middle School Dominates in UIL Academics

For the third year in a row, Eustace Middle School has won the district UIL Academic Contest. For the second year in a row, EMS has scored over 1,000 points in the process. The point totals for the schools in our zone are as follows:

1st Place Eustace 1145 points

2nd Place Mildred 894 points

3rd Place Rice 680 points

4th Place Malakoff 451

The district competition is divided into a west zone and an east zone to avoid excessive travel for districts.

I would like to congratulate all the students and staff at the Middle School for their hard work and dedication in preparing for this competition.

I want to extend a special thank you to Paul McKinney, Leanne Carlson, and all the volunteers from the First Baptist Church in Eustace for allowing us to host this competition at the church and for all their help in making the day a great success for all those involved.

Kids TV…

via Engaging the Digital Natives by Jerri Davis
I have been asked by the teachers of little ones to help them find some resources for their students, so I was doing some YouTube surfing and came across the this great channel for younger learners…

Now you may already know about the  KidsTV123 channel, but it is new to me. KidsTV123 produces songs and videos for children, toddlers, and babies.  The songs and videos include topics on letter sounds, the alphabet, animal sounds, holidays, and numbers.  Here are a couple of examples…

The Animal Sounds Song describes the sounds that each animal makes and includes a picture of the animal. The song is designed with the idea of helping younger students to learn phonetic patterns.

The Phonics Song helps young learners to recognized the sounds of the letters.

There is a whole plethora of videos to choose from.  If you are a teacher of our early childhood and kinder kids then I recommend checking out the KidsTV123 channel.  It’s a really awesome resource.

In looking through the KidsTV123 channel, I also came across these YouTube channels for kids as well, Kids TV , Busy Beavers, Super Simple Songs, and many, many more.  Happy Hunting.

Ebony Scrooge opens Saturday, December 6th!

Ready to enjoy the festivities and the holidays with your family and friends? Then let the fun begin by joining Eustace High School at their opening of “Ebony Scrooge” on December 6th and 7th at 7:00 p.m.

Ebony Scrooge is a original play loosely based from A Christmas Carol the Christmas Classic written by Charles Dickens. Fun for the entire family, Ebony Scrooge is written by D.M. Larson of Freedrama.net in collaboration with the Eustace High School Theater Company. Mr. Larson calls Ebony Scrooge “a work in progress” and allows students to add to the story in their own unique and creative way. This gives students the opportunity to experience the world of a playwright and of the director by seeing their words come to life in the characters created on the stage. This comedy will leave you laughing and singing all the way home! Join us!
