Adrienne Gautreaux-McDonald Named to SEC’s 2015 Women’s Legends Class
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Former South Carolina golfer Adrienne Gautreaux-McDonald has been named a member of the Southeastern Conference 2015 Class of Women’s Legends, the league announced today.
A letterwinner from 2001-04, Gautreaux-McDonald saw success early in her South Carolina career as a contributor to the program’s only SEC championship team in the spring of 2002. A two-time All-SEC honoree, she garnered a first-team nod after recording the 12th-best season scoring average in program history at 74.44 in 2004. Her off the course efforts were also recognized in 2004, as the Gamecock earned first-team CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and was named an NGCA All-American Scholar. Over the course of her career, Gautreaux-McDonald posted 20 top-20 finishes including eight in the top 10 and four in the top five.
In 2004, Gautreaux-McDonald became the first of two Gamecocks to win the LPGA Foundation Dinah Shore Trophy. One of the most prestigious honors in golf, the Dinah Shore Trophy recognizes female collegiate golfers who excel in both academics (3.2 on a 4.0 scale) and athletics – playing in at least 50 percent of the team’s scheduled events – while maintaining a 78.00 or less scoring average. In addition, nominees must demonstrate outstanding leadership skills and community service.
The class will be honored at the 2015 SEC Women’s Basketball Tournament, March 4-8 in Little Rock, Ark. Each legend will be honored during half-time of their team’s first game of the tournament, all 14 individuals will also be honored as a group, as well as participate in an autograph session during the tournament. Complimentary posters of the Legends will be available at the session.
The conference is announcing the legends from its Eastern Division schools today while the Western Division schools will be announced on January 8. Each legend will then be celebrated individually on each Sunday and Thursday between January 11 and February 26.
