We had a really good first week of school. The students arrived with smiles! We spent the week discussing the rules and expectations of Eustace Intermediate during our morning family time.
At the beginning of the week, we reminded the student to KNOW how they were getting home! We spent time talking about the importance of attendance and being at school. We reminded students of our Bus conduct expectations and the consequences of misbehaving on the bus. I spent time reminding students of the importance of listening, following directions, and earning their rewards. The students know that in order to participate in the fun stuff they must earn the right.
We ended the week with our annual What’s Hot and What’s Not Style show. This is fun way to teach dress code to all our students. We have 5th grade students come dressed out of code so that students can actually see what is not in dress code and what is. The kids all enjoy the show…
Then we ended our time together on Friday with Fun Friday. This is the day the students look forward to all week long! Students were able to dance and sing and have a good time.
Not only were students have a good time dancing but so were our teachers!
We look forward to this new school year and are excited to see what the coming weeks bring!

I want to thank everyone that came out to support the Bulldogs at the annual Bulldog Bash! It would be safe to say that it was the biggest crowd we have ever had! A special thank you goes out to our Booster Club officers and members for their work in making this a great night for all the Bulldogs. Also, a special thank you to EASA for having their football players and cheerleaders at the Bash. Later today, a video of the entire Bulldog Bash will be posted to the district’s YouTube channel. Below are a couple of pictures from last night.
A quick note about Friday’s football game in Tyler. The start time is 7:00 instead of 7:30. Parking is sparse at All Saints, so an early arrival would be wise.
Reminder that High School Volleyball starts at 5:00 in Edgewood tonight.
Our first day enrollment was good. we had a total of 1,532 students in class yesterday. We know that we will add several more students when vaccinations are complete.
We have got the first day underway. I appreciate everyone’s patience this first day. Traffic is always an issue the first few days. We had a few moments when it was really congested, but it cleared up quickly. According to numbers submitted around 10:30, our first day enrollment is 1,552. This enrollment is greater than any point during the 2014-2015 school year.
I want to let everyone know about the new program that EISD will be participating in this year. At the regular August Board Meeting, our School Board approved participation in the Community Eligibility Provision. For the 2015-2016 school year, all students in grades Pre-K to 8th grade will have breakfast and lunch provided at no cost. For these students there is no paperwork to fill out. Everyone is automatically eligible. For our High School students, we will continue to provide multiple meal choices as we did in the 2nd semester last year at regular prices. Students in grades 9-12 will still be able to qualify for free or reduced priced meals. All students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to turn in their paperwork for the free or reduced price meals. If you need further information about the free or reduced price meal program, please contact Teri Clark at (903) 425 – 5128.
Recently, EISD was informed by the Texas Education Agency that it was one of only 24 districts in the state that earned the College Readiness Distinction. There are over 1,200 public and charter school districts in the state. That means that there were less than 2% of the districts in the state to earn this Distinction. EISD was one of those districts! This is great tribute to our students, staff, and parents at EISD.
I look forward to 2015-2016 being the best year yet for EISD. It is truly a great time to be a Bulldog!

My first reminder to the students, for the first day of school, is to make sure you know how you are getting home! We want to be here, but we also want to be able to get home!
The Eustace varsity volleyball team competed in the Van Tournament this past weekend. The Lady Bulldogs faced some very tough challenges in that tournament. Overall, the Lady Bulldogs placed third in the Gold Bracket, defeating John Tyler 2-0 in their final game. Congratulations to everyone involved!
Eustace hosted one of the largest junior varsity and 9th grade volleyball tournaments in the region this past weekend. Thirty-two teams were on hand to compete. In the JV bracket, the Lady Bulldogs JV placed 3rd overall. They won a hard fought game against Ennis 2-1 to capture 3rd. A picture of the JV girls is posted below.
The 9th grade team also ended in 3rd place overall. Their last game was a 2-0 victory over Canton. The 9th grade picture is posted below as well.
Tomorrow, we officially welcome back all of our staff for the 2015-2016 school year. All staff members will be involved with in-service activities throughout the week. \
I encourage everyone to sign up to be a part of our district Celly group. You can find out how to sign up by going to our homepage at www.eustaceisd.net. Being a part of the Celly group will provide an opportunity to receive important text messages about school closures, school emergencies, and events and happenings at the school. The best part about signing up for Celly is that you do not have to give anyone your cell phone number.
I am looking forward to getting the 2015-2016 school year underway. As always, if you ever have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact me at email@example.com. Or, please feel free to come by and talk to me in person.
