JV Football, Friday Night, and Labor Day

Congratulations to the JV football team on a great win against Sunnyvale last night! The Bulldogs won by a score of 35-28.

Tonight, the varsity football team travels to Sunnyvale for a 7:30 kickoff. Along with the football team, the Mighty Bulldog Marching Band and the varsity cheerleader will be performing. I invite everyone to come out and support the football team, the band, and the cheerleaders.

A reminder that Monday is our Labor Day Holiday. Classes will resume at regular times on Tuesday.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend!

Math Activity Fun…

via Engaging the Digital Natives by Jerri Davis

I learned about a new (to me) math activity site today called Matific.  It is a fun site filled with math activities, lessons, and games for students of K – 6 grades.  Matific uses hands-on and interactive games, called episodes, to teach math.

The Matific activities are short and quick.  When students answer correctly they are celebrated and when they don’t answer correctly then the students are encouraged to choose a different answer.  And even though it’s designed with the individual student in mind, those with interactive white boards could make this a quick, fun activity for your whole class.

Matific not only offers games but it also offers lesson plans as well as worksheets. The goal of  Matific is to help teachers teach math concepts in an engaging way, encouraging the seemless integration of technology into the classroom.   Teachers can create free Matific accounts for use at school.  If there is a desire for the product to be used at home, Matific offers a premium account that allows the at-home use.

The site is definitely worth checking out.

Growing Pains

What a good problem to have. It’s been a great start to the year, but challenging to say the least. Enrollment is up in all areas at Eustace High School. Not only have we had some difficulty in balancing the numbers in the regular classes, but there have been some struggles as well in accommodating the many students taking dual credit courses. Thirty Eight students in English 1301 aren’t fitting well in any one setting so plans are to divide the class between the computer lab and library. Hopefully we’ll all be able to manage the growing pains and have the success that we’re accustom to.

Great start at Eustace Primary!

It has been a great start here at Eustace Primary!  The children are excited to be at school.  Smiles are everywhere as they make new friends and enjoy all of their learning activities in their classrooms.

Reminder!  There is NO CHARGE for breakfast or lunch for any of our students.  We have been pleased to see many more children eating breakfast before they start their day.
