This Week

Congratulations to the cross country teams on a great performance at the Fairfield meet this past Saturday! While I do not have the official results yet, I know that the boys varsity, the JV boys, and the JV girls won their divisions. The varsity girls placed second. When I get the official results, I will post those as a separate entry.

Congratulations also go out to the volleyball teams on their wins over Mildred. This was an important win for our varsity because Mildred was only a game back coming into the Friday contest. The varsity defeated Mildred 3-0 to secure a solid hold on second place in the district. The JV A team defeated Mildred 2-1 to remain undefeated in district play.

The band performed at the Cedar Creek Marching Festival this past Saturday. While they did not advance to the finals, they did have their overall best performance of the year. Videos of that performance and the performance at halftime of the Elkhart game will be posted to the district’s YouTube account later today. The band is getting ready for the UIL Marching Contest this Wednesday in Mesquite. The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band is scheduled to perform at 3:30.

The Bulldog varsity football team fell in a hard fought game against Elkhart 17-8. The Bulldogs face Kemp this Friday in Kemp.

The PSAT will be given to all 10th graders this Wednesday. There is no charge to the students for taking this test.

Fire Safety and Today's Events

I want to send a big thank you to the Eustace Volunteer Fire Department and the Payne Springs Volunteer Fire Department for taking the time to come up and provide fire safety instruction to our Primary students. It means a lot to our staff and students for these volunteers to take time out of their day to visit with our students. At the end of this entry are a couple of pictures from that event.

Today, the High School volleyball teams host Mildred in a key district match. Currently, our Lady Bulldogs are in sole possession of 2nd place in the district at 7-1. Mildred is a game back at 6-2. The varsity game will start at 4:30 in the Kirk Gym. I encourage everyone to come out and support our volleyball teams today. The volleyball team is also raising funds for the annual Dig Pink event. There will be several items to bid on at tonight’s game.

The varsity football team will host Elkhart tonight at 7:30 in the first district game of the season. We have had some great support at the last two home games and it does make a difference! In addition, fans will get to see our varsity cheerleaders and the Mighty Bulldog Marching Band. Your support for all three groups is appreciated!

Our band will be performing at the Cedar Creek Marching Festival tomorrow in Mabank. The Bulldog Band will march at 2:15. There will be an admission fee.

The cross country teams travel to Fairfield tomorrow for their final meet before district. The district meet will be October 19 at the 4 Pines Ranch just south of Eustace.

Wow it's October!!

We all know the term “time flies.” The older I get the more it is true!! We have the first six weeks behind us and the year is moving along quickly. This six weeks middle school students will ramp up our preparation for our UIL Academic competition in early December as we strive for our fourth straight academic championship.

The middle school sports scene will be busy as our cross country teams prepare for their district meet. Our football teams begin district play this week as they travel to Elkhart to take on the Elks and our volleyball teams will continue their district schedule finishing up the regular season on October 26th. Our ladies did an outstanding job last night with their victories over Frankston. Watch for pictures to come very soon on our Facebook page “Eustace Middle School” and please “like” our page to keep up with more news and information.

It was a very good first six weeks. We appreciate all the support we receive from parents and the community as we work together to provide our students the best possible education. As always, please do not hesitate to contact teachers, staff, or myself if you have any questions or concerns. Now is the time to discuss ANY kind of concerns because it will maximize our chance to make a difference.

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, guardian, friend, or community member we deeply appreciate your care and concern for the students of Eustace Middle School. It takes all of us to provide the very best for our students.
