School Board Recognition Month

January is School Board Recognition Month. It is a time to publically thank the men and women that devote countless hours to ensuring that the students in EISD receive a World-Class Education. School Board Recognition Month also provides an opportunity to acknowledge some of the programs that have been developed through the leadership of our Board.

We are now in the second year of our TVCC Scholarship Program. Through this program, our juniors and seniors are able to take dual credit, college credit, and certification courses through TVCC at no cost. The EISD Board provides for the tuition and the materials necessary for these courses. In the fall of 2015, EISD had over 60 students enrolled in over 120 courses.

EISD is also in the process of building a new Ag Mechanics building. Once completed, EISD, in partnership with TVCC, will be able to offer a 4 year welding certification program.

This past summer, the Board approved participation in the Community Eligibility Provision. In EISD, this program allows all students in grades PK – 8 to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost.

I encourage everyone to take a few minutes to thank the members of the Eustace ISD School Board. The members of the EISD School Board are:

Gary Walsh, Board President

Ashley McKee, Board Vice President

Bobby Ashton, Board Secretary

Cotton Walker, Board Member

Sonny Hodge, Board Member,

Steven Bell, Board Member

Jimmy Kirkhart, Board Member
