In the first year of the UIL Spirit Competition, the Eustace High School Cheerleaders placed 6th in Conference 3A out of over 50 teams. The competition took place yesterday at UT Arlington. The competition consisted of a preliminary round and a finals round. In order to qualify for the finals, all squads had to compete in three events: Crowd Leading, Fight Song, and Band Dance. Based on the scores in the preliminary round, teams were then advanced to the final round. A total of twenty teams advanced to the finals.
According to the UIL website, the EHS Cheerleaders received the following scores in the preliminary round: 52.5 in Band Dance (5th best), 60 in Fight Song (tied for 6th best), and 81.5 in Crowd Leading. I want to congratulate all the EHS Cheerleaders on the hard work and dedication they put in for this competition. They spent a lot of early mornings practicing!! Congratulations to the cheerleading sponsors Melanie Tanner and Amanda Planeta on the all the time and effort put in developing and teaching the routines. Finally, a special thank you to all the parents and other relatives and friends who have supported our cheerleaders throughout the practices and at the competition.
