January 13-The Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the Texas Engineering Foundation (TEF) will award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to engineering students attending an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology)- accredited university. Applications and a list of TSPE Scholarship coordinators are available at www.tspe.org/programs/scholarships. PLEASE NOTE: students should contact their local coordinator to determine if there are specific requirements for applying to their area’s TSPE chapter. Applications are also available in the counselor’s office.
January 31, 2017– The Carr P. Collins Scholars Program at Baylor University is now accepting applications. This program was established in 1993 to recognize academically gifted students who are dedicated to helping others in an effort to develop leaders of tomorrow through the gift of higher education. Through this program, Baylor University awards scholarships to students who demonstrate leadership through service. Selection of recipients is based on leadership, academic ability and commitment to community service. Collins Scholars are awarded a minimum of $5,050 their freshman year, renewable for three additional years provided they meet program requirements. To be eligible , applicants must:
- Be admitted to the University
- Be in the tope quarter of their graduating class
- Have a minimum score of 1310 (combined Math and Evidence- Based Reading and Writing) on the SAT or a minimum score of 28 on the ACT
- Have completed a balanced college prep program including history, science and a foreign language
- Be a resident of the state of Texas

March 1, 2017- The East Texas Professional Credit Union is offering two scholarships: The McLauchlin Scholarship is a $2,000 award for graduating seniors who wish to pursue a degree in education, and the Presidential Scholarship is a $1,000 award for graduating seniors who will pursue a degree in any field.
The applicant, or any member of the applicant’s immediate family must have an East Texas Credit Union account in good standing. To join the Credit Union, a minimum $5 deposit into a savings account is required. Applicants may contact ETPCU at 903-323-0230 or 800-256-5009 for more membership information.
