A Senior Meeting was held Thursday, December 1, and we had the area Stephen F. Austin recruiter speak to offer information about SFA, as well as give general information on the application process to any secondary education institution. It does seem that there are still many seniors who plan to continue on with their education who have still not completed the FAFSA. This is not particularly difficult to do, and obtaining financial aid is critical to most students going to college, so, this should be a priority that students need to make time for. I urge students to get this done before the March 15 deadline: see below:

Federal Deadline

Online applications must be submitted by midnight Central Time, June 30, 2018.

Any corrections or updates must be submitted by midnight Central Time, September 15, 2018.

State Deadline

Texas – As soon as possible after October 1, 2016.
Texas public colleges – March 15, 2017. For priority consideration, submit application by date specified.
Texas private colleges – Check with your financial aid administrator. Additional forms may be required.

College Deadline
Check with the college(s) you are interested in attending. You may also want to ask your college about its definition of an application deadline – whether it is the date the college receives your FAFSA, or the date your FAFSA is processed.

Senior Parents– Please have your students let me know when they have been accepted to any post-secondary institution, to include colleges, universities and vocational education programs. I also want to know who will be joining the military. We would like to recognize your student’s accomplishments
