Scholarships; TSI Testing

January 31, 2018– The Texas Student Housing Authority is offering a scholarship to graduating seniors who will be attending college in Austin, Denton or College Station. This scholarship will be applied to the cost of OFF-CAMPUS housing for one academic year at Town Lake in Austin, The Ridge in Denton, or at The Cambridge in College Station, or at an alternate comparable facility IF designated by the Texas Housing Authority. This scholarship may be renewable if the student maintains established academic and leadership standards and communicates with the TSHA board as required.

February 21, 2018-The Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Competition is open to all students in grades 9-12 attending UIL member schools. In addition to scholarship eligibility, finalists will compete for state awards and will be invited to attend the Academic State Meet in May 2018. March 1, 2018- East Texas Professional Credit Union is offering its two annual scholarships to graduating seniors. The McLauchlin Scholarship is a $2,000 award for students who are planning to pursue a degree in education, and the Presidential Scholarship is a $1,000 award for students who wish to pursue a degree in any field. Scholarship applicants or members of their immediate family must have an East Texas Professional Credit Union account in good standing- one may be obtained with a minimum deposit of $5 in a savings account.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office, any East Texas Credit Union office, or downloaded at www.etpcu.org.

 

TSI testing will be offered at the High School on Thursday, October 26. TSI testing is required for students interested in taking dual credit courses through TVCC. Sophomores, juniors and seniors may sign up to take the test for the first time or to retest portions of the test they may have failed previously. Freshmen may sign up to test, but they will only be eligible to take welding beginning the fall of next school year. Eustace ISD will pay for students to test two times- after that, students must pay the $30 testing fee each time they retest.
