Cross Country and This Week

Both the boys and girls cross country teams had a successful trip to the state cross country meet in Round Rock. On the girls side, Kayla Fruen finished second overall and brought home the silver medal! By the way, Kayla is just a 9th grader! The girls team finished 6th overall. The runners on the girls team (in the order of finish) included: Kayla Fruen, Yasmine Washington, Madisen Kulsa, Brooke McAtee, Krislynn Westbrook, Brooklyn Patterson, and Reece Thorne.


On the boys side, Dalton Page finished 4th overall and the boys team won the Conference 3A State Championship! The boys had a total score of 65. The second place team scored a distant 104 points! The order of finish for the boys team was Dalton Page, Nicholas Westbrook, Jaden Lopez, Colby Carpenter, Collin Sutton, John Saine, and Nathaniel Holland.  The boys have finished in the top 3 at state several times; however, this is their first state championship.

Congratulations to all the runners on their great showing at the state meet. A special thank you to all the parents, family, and friends that made the trip to Round Rock to support our runners. A special thank you to our cross country coaches Josh Sypert and Kenneth Henderson. Last Friday was Senior Night for football players, band members, student trainers, and cheerleaders (it was also supposed to be Senior Night for cross country, but our runners were in Round Rock). If you missed the presentations Friday, here is a video of the ceremony:

Also, last Friday night was our American Flag Night. All the football players carried an American flag as they took the field before the game. Als0, we had a large American flag held on the field by veterans, active duty personnel, and local citizens for the National Anthem. Here is that video:

A quick shout out to EHS graduate Taylor Peebles. Taylor was recently inaugurated into UT Tyler’s National Nursing Honor Society. Taylor graduated from EHS in 2015.

This Week

Congratulations to our varsity football team on their 42-0 win against A+ Academy. The win puts the Bulldogs at 2-1 in district play.

The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band will perform at the Regional Marching Contest today in Mesquite. The Bulldog Band will march at 4:45 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. There will be an admission charge.

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Ennis tomorrow to play Rio Vista for the bi-district championship. The match is set to start at 6:00 PM.

Football, Cross Country, Band, and This Week

Congratulations to the varsity football team on their first win of the season! The Bulldogs defeated Life Oak 61-0 last Friday. The win puts the Bulldogs at 1-1 in district play. The Bulldogs travel to A+ Academy this Friday for their third district game.

The Mighty Bulldog Marching Band also turned in an outstanding performance in the pouring rain last Friday. If you did not have a chance to see their halftime performance, you can view it at this link:

Also, the UIL Marching Contest has been moved from this Wednesday to next Monday, October 29. The Bulldog Band will perform at 4:45 in Mesquite.

Yesterday, our boys and girls cross country teams both won the Region III Championship held in Huntsville. The girls actually tied with Franklin with 77 points, but won the tie-breaker. Here is the order of finish for the Lady Bulldogs: Kayla Fruen – 3rd, Madisen Kulsa – 15th, Krislynn Westbrook – 20th, Brooke McAtee – 22nd, Brooklyn Patterson – 24th, Yasmine Washington – 26th, Jeanne Pickett – 37th.

The boys cross country team absolutely dominated in their race! The Bulldogs placed 1st with an overall score of 32. The second place team had a score of 132! Eustace finished with four runners in the top 10, the overall Regional Champion, Dalton Page, and overall silver medalist, Nicholas Westbrook! Here is the order of finish: Dalton Page – 1st, Nicholas Westbrook – 2nd Place, Colby Carpenter – 8th, John Saine – 9th, Jaden Lopez – 15th, Nate Holland – 20th, Trenton Porte – 24th.

Both the boys and girls teams will compete at the State Cross Country Meet on Saturday, November 3 in Round Rock. The girls run at 12:10 and the boys run at 12:40.

There will be a video of the start, middle, finish, and awards of both teams posted to the district’s YouTube page later today.

This Week

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team on their 3-0 win against Kemp last Friday. The win pushes them one step closer to securing a playoff spot.

Friday was also Senior Night for volleyball. The volleyball team has only one senior this year, Reece Thorne.  Reece was recognized after the game for all her accomplishments during her career. A video of the ceremony will be posted to the district’s YouTube channel later today.

District Cross Country Meet

The Eustace Cross Country Teams turned in dominant performances at the district cross country meet. The meet was held yesterday in Malakoff. All four Eustace High School teams won their division. Three of the teams had perfect scores! I want to congratulate all the runners on their performances. I also want to congratulate cross country coaches, Josh Sypert and Kenneth Henderson, for all their hard work getting our runners ready for the district meet. A special thank you to all the parents and other supporters that were at the district meet.

Voter Registration and Important Dates

The November general election date is Tuesday, November 6. The deadline to register to vote is Tuesday, October 9. You must be registered to vote in order to vote in the general election and in the Eustace ISD bond election. Below is information that may be useful both to registered voters and those needing to register:

How can I determine if I’m registered to vote?

You can check your voter registration status here. All you need is a few things: Voter ID number or Texas Driver’s License number, your name, county of residence, and date of birth.

How do I register?

You can fill out a registration application online, or call the Voter Registration Office at 210-335-VOTE (8683) and request a voter registration application. If you get a physical copy of an application, just fill it out, sign it, and mail it back to the address on the application.

You can also find voter registration applications at libraries, government offices, high schools, or with volunteer deputies.

When is the deadline to register?

Turn in your application by Tuesday, Oct. 9. Get an application online here.

I just moved. Do I need to re-register?

If you moved to a different county, yes. If you moved to a different address within the same county, no. All you have to do is update your address online. You can also get a new voter registration application, make note of your new address, and mail it to the Voter Registration Office.

When does early voting begin?

Early voting starts Monday, Oct. 22 and runs through Friday, Nov. 2. Early voting locations are given below:

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing your photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing your photograph
  • United States Passport (book or card)

If you don’t have one of the seven forms of identification listed above and can’t reasonably get one, you can also bring one of these:

  • A copy or original of a government document that shows your name and an address, including your voter registration certificate;
  • A copy of or original current utility bill;
  • A copy of or original bank statement;
  • A copy of or original government check;
  • A copy of or original paycheck; or
  • A copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes your identity, which may include a foreign birth document.

During early voting, you can vote at any poll location convenient to you within your county. On Election Day, you must vote in your precinct.

What about absentee ballots?

Get an application for ballot by mail here. You can vote by mail if you are:

  • Going to be away from your county on Election Day and during early voting
  • Sick or disabled
  • 65 years of age or older on Election Day
  • Confined in jail, but eligible to vote

And for your vote to count, the early voting clerk must have your marked, mailed-in ballot by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

Congratulations to the varsity girls volleyball team on their win over Palmer last Friday! The win improves the Lady Bulldogs to 3-0 in district play. The win over Palmer also increased Coach Chuck Powers win total to 899! The Lady Bulldogs travel to Kemp on Tuesday.

Congratulations to the High School cross country teams on their dominating performance in the Canton meet! The JV boys, varsity girls, and varsity boys all placed first! Both of the boys teams had almost perfect scores!

Congratulations to the varsity volleyball team on opening district play with a win over Blooming Grove!

Due to lightning delays, the football game against Winona was called in the second quarter. While the Bulldogs were trailing 28-14, we were about to get the ball back with the opportunity to cut the lead to one touchdown.

This is Homecoming Week! There are many activities and events scheduled for this week. Rain is forecast for everyday this week. In case of cancellations, or changes in plans, please check our Twitter feed on our homepage, or by following us on Twitter at @EustaceISD.

Weather permitting, we will have our annual Celebrate Freedom Parade this Tuesday at 8:30 AM. The parade will take place at the Intermediate bus loop. Everyone is invited to attend!

Also, weather permitting, we will have our Homecoming Tailgate Party and Bonfire this Thursday. The Tailgate Party will start at 6:00 PM and will take place in the Bulldog Stadium parking lot. The bonfire is scheduled to start at 8:00 PM and will take place on the southside of Bulldog Stadium.

Also, this Friday is our annual District-Wide Pep Rally. The pep rally will start at 9:00 AM and will be held in the Kirk Gym. Everyone is invited to attend!

The fall MAP testing window continues this week.
