Scholarships

April 2, 2018– Trinity Valley Electric Cooperative is offering scholarships to graduating seniors who are in the top 20% of their graduating class and whose parents or legal guardians are members and are receiving electric service from TVEC at their primary residence. Applicants must also seek full-time enrollment at an accredited institution of higher learning. Applications are available in the counselor’s office.

 

February 12, 2018-The Henderson County Black History Committee is offering their annual scholarship to graduating seniors who

  • Have  a  GPA between 90 and 70
  • Have not been arrested or convicted of a felony
  • Can submit two letters of recommendation
  • Can write a two page essay on “African Americans In Times of War”

Applications must be returned to the counselor’s office by 9 a.m. on February 12.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office. NOTE: Students do not have to be of African American descent to apply for this scholarship.

 

ASVAB CEP testing

Eustace High School will provide an opportunity for students, grades 10-12, to take the ASVAB CEP (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery Career Exploration Program) on Friday, January 19, 2018. The ASVAB is a timed multi-aptitude test, which is given at over 14,000 schools and Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS) nationwide and is developed and maintained by the Department of Defense. This test is not only administered to students who want a career in the military, but is also a way for students to identify their skill strengths and highlight work-related interest areas where students are most likely to succeed. These components give young people the confidence to map out a post-secondary plan that aligns with their individual skills and interests. An ASVAB representative will be at school on Monday, February 5, 2018, to provide interpretation of student results.

Any sophomore, junior or senior who wants to take the test may sign up in the counselor’s office from January 3-12.

Scholarships; TVCC Dual Credit reminder

January 19, 2018– The Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) and the Texas Engineering Foundation (TEF) will award approximately $100,000 in scholarships to engineering students attending an ABET- accredited university. To be eligible to apply, a student must:

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Be a high school senior with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and planning to enter college in the fall of 2018
  • Enroll at an accredited ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited engineering program

Applications and a list of ABET accredited schools are available in the counselor’s office.

 

February 12, 2018- The Pinnacle Women’s Club will be offering five college scholarships in the amount of $1,500 for the 2018-19 academic year. To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • A graduating senior with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.5
  • Involved in school/community activities

Applications are available in the counselor’s office.

 

February 23, 2018– The Kiwanis Club of Cedar Creek lake is accepting applications for the Walter Hurst Sophomore of the Year $600 scholarship. The Kiwanis Club Scholarship Committee will select one applicant to represent their club and that applicant will move on to the District Scholarship Committee and one scholarship will be awarded by the District. The Scholarship will be announced in August. Applications are also available in the counselor’s office.

 

Students who intend to take a dual credit class through TVCC have until Friday, December 15, to get their concurrent forms signed and turned in to counselor’s office.

After that, students will have to go through the registration process at TVCC on their own. Please refer to the email and blog post sent out November 1, 2017.

Scholarships

May 1, 2018-The Break the Cycle Scholarship was created to inspire our future generation to complete their college education with the goal to support students with a desire to break the cycle of generational incarceration through education. This $250 scholarship is available to graduating seniors who meet the following criteria:

  • Live in Henderson County
  • family has a low income
  • first one in the family to attend college
  • one or both parents incarcerated
  • previously or currently in foster care system or placed with a relative by CPS
  • A two page essay is also required.

Applications are available in the counselor’s office.

 

May 22, 2018– The B. Davis Scholarship, a $1,000 award,  is available all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post-secondary institution.

  • Be sure to include your name and the school you are attending this year and next
  • This is not an academic scholarship but we would like to know where you are going to school now and what your future academic plans are.

    Please do not send transcripts or letters of recommendation at this time.

Scholarships

November 30, 2017- The Guidance Tech Leaders Scholarship is a $1,000 Scholarship available for graduating seniors who can write a 500 word essay on how you see the role of Internet and technology evolving over the next decade. February 5, 2018– The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Area Go Texan  scholarship application will open in November. Qualifications for applying for this scholarship include:

  • US citizen and Texas resident
  • graduating senior
  • Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Plan to attend an accredited not-for-profit University in the state of Texas
  • Meet the academic standards for class rank and SAT/ACT scores as stated within the application. No one may apply who has not taken the SAT or ACT test and who cannot furnish documentation of scores

To apply, visit www.rodeohouston.com and click on Educational Support, then Scholarships. Once the online application is complete, and before it is submitted online, make a copy to submit to the Henderson County Area Go Texan Committee. Paper instructions for this are located in the counselor’s office.

 

March 1, 2018-The Henderson County Go Texan Academic Scholarship is available for application for graduating seniors who:

  • Attend an accredited public high school in Henderson County
  • Are a resident of the state of Texas and a US citizen
  • Are ranked in the upper third of his/her graduating class
  • Have a minimum of a 950 on the SAT or a 19 on the ACT
  • Plan to enroll in a Texas college or university
  • Have been an active member of a local 4-H or FFA chapter for a minimum of three of the four years in high school
  • Have applied for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Area Go Texan Scholarship and deemed eligible by the selection committee

Applications are available in the counselor’s office.

 

March 1, 2018-The Tommy Barnett Vocational Scholarship, sponsored by the Henderson County Area Go Texan Committee is available for application. To be eligible, the applicant must:

  • Reside in Henderson County
  • Be a graduating senior
  • Have been a member of 4-H or FFA for at least three of their four years in high school
  • Intend to enroll in a vocational educational program through an institute accredited by the SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) located in Texas

Applications are available in the counselor’s office.
