First, I want to thank everyone for a great first week of school. While it has not been perfect, it has been a smooth week. I appreciate everyone’s patience in the morning and afternoons as we try to make the drop-off and pick-up routines as user friendly as possible. We will continue to look for ways to improve this process.
Right now, our enrollment is at 1,523 students. This is about where we ended the 2015-2016 school year. For the first time in several years, all four grade levels at the High School are over 100 students. Currently, the High School has our largest enrollment, 452 students. Primary is second with 400 students. The Intermediate and Middle School have almost identical enrollments: Intermediate is at 337 and the Middle School is at 334.
In the first official football game of the season, the Bulldog JV football team defeated Scurry 28-8! Congratulations to the players and coaches!
Today is the first varsity football game of the season. The Bulldogs travel to Scurry for a 7:30 PM kickoff. Not only will fans be treated to a good football game, they will also get to see the varsity cheerleaders perform and get to hear and see the Mighty Bulldog Marching Band perform! The football team, cheerleaders, and band have been practicing since August 1. I encourage everyone to make the drive over to Scurry to watch all three groups perform.
The boys and girls cross country teams travel to Union Grove on Saturday to compete in their first official meet of the year. Both the Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs return many of the runners that earned both teams a 3rd place medal in the state meet last year.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!
